Training camp

Ten days ago I flew down to Tucson for the UnitedHealthcare presented by Maxxis team training camp and presentation. It was a fun time of getting to know the team mates and finding everyone's strengths. The camp included some amazing rides in gorgeous weather, but we also had to suffer through some pretty rough 40 degree rain storms that really showed off the new Voler rain jackets and booties. The Voler jacket is the first one I've ever had in which I don't overheat and yet still keeps me dry. Really it made the 4 hours of rain on Superbowl Sunday down right pleasant....

One of the days we did some lead out drills and climbing intervals which took us out to Kitt peak.

Thereby proving that Arizona does get snow, you just have to climb for an hour to find it.

We also did a race simulation up Mt. Lemon in which we convinced the sprinters to set a wicked tempo for us climbers instead of the other way around which is what normally happens.

But in the end it was down to the climbers and we all learned some valuable lessons.

It wasn't all work though, we also did a bit of team bonding Go Cart racing, which really got the competitive juices flowing and resulted in quite a few bruises.

The camp concluded with our team presentation, MCed by the ever popular Dave Towle and the normal photo shoot and VIP rides. Now everyone is super excited for the upcoming season and we are ready to go and win some races! We have a super strong team and the domestic peleton is in for a bit of a shock....
